Manager, Derivative Accounting

Reporting to the VP, Derivative Accounting the Manager and working with the trading floor, the successful candidate will provide technical derivative accounting expertise and guidance to the Derivative Accounting group. Responsibilities include:


-Develop and communicate derivative accounting policies and procedures
-Provide formal guidance and position papers to business units on appropriate accounting for derivative instruments
-Coordinate with FAS 133 Lead Accountants in the business units to ensure compliance
-Review external and internal derivative instrument disclosures and reports
-Meet with Operational Managers to discuss proposed or new hedging strategies to include cash flow and fair value hedges and new product types and/or commodities
-Develop, design, and review hedge effectiveness design, documentation, and testing
-Lead system implementations and improvements for hedge accounting software and lead system and automation of FAS 133 activities related to hedging activities
-Evaluate statistical analysis and regression testing
-Maintain current knowledge on changes to accounting rules, pronouncements, EITF issues, and DIG issues as well as their impact in the energy industry
-Serve as the main contact with external auditors in regards to GAAP/regulatory issues, FAS 133 hedging, normal purchase, and normal sale documentation and conclusions
-Complete special research projects and provide analytical support for ad hoc requests

Qualifications include:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a Master's preferred
Technical accounting experience at a Big 4 CPA designation desired.
Experience in derivative, trading and energy required.
