Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SPECIFIC DUTIES for the Audit Director (LIST IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):
• Direct, manage and coordinate a division within the firm’s Assurance
Services practice
• Serve as the client’s primary contact
• Approve staff assignments, making certain they are appropriate
• Follow the progress if the work during an engagement in relation to budgeted time and scheduled dates if completion. Determine whether all phases if the engagement are being carried out properly and in the best sequence. Anticipate the problem areas and questions that might arise
• Keep the partner informed of all important developments in the work, analyze the major problems that occur and recommend solutions
• Resolve problems with partner approval and review the report draft from the audit manager as the engagement nears completion
• Submit the reports to the partner for final approval and signature, and supervise the distribution according to the client’s instructions
• Deal directly with the client’s attorney or broker, taxing authority agents, and other third parties
• Review and approve management letters
• Project and plan the timing of the workload expected to promote the most efficient operation if the firm
• Facilitate preparation of the other reports and projects as requested firm time to time by the partners
• Review current billing memorandum
• Prepare and conduct performance evaluations with staff members
• Develop and maintain new business for the firm
• Maintain knowledge if general economic and political trends and if the possible tax or other legislative initiatives that could affect the business climate
• Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience performing financial statement audits; knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards
• Knowledge of benefit plan auditing
• Proficiency in use of computers and computer accounting software programs
• Good oral and written communication skills; good presentation skills required
• Demonstrated ability to bring in new business to a CPA firm
• Ability to travel
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or master’s degree in accounting.
• Minimum of forty hours of continuing professional education is required each year.
