ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
1. Develop plans, budgets, forecasts and financial results to guide Houston operations decisions by forecasting requirements; providing budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; early identification of opportunities or unfavorable trends; initiating corrective actions; developing and providing background information.
2. Responsible for development of executive presentation packages, preparation of business unit MD&A and other communications to division, segment, and corporate management.
3. Financial analysis for Houston operations and business development; includes sales, cost, margin, and SG&A analysis for several product lines.
4. Drive Business Process Improvements related to finance processes and financial systems and cost reductions.
5. Leadership responsibility for managing the Houston finance team. The team includes remotely located Shared Services organization that performs AR, AP and GL functions, as well as local employees who perform cost accounting, financial analysis and reporting, and compliance functions. Includes staff and department goal setting, periodic performance reviews, and regular staff communication and development.
6. Direct the Sarbanes Oxley compliance efforts for the business unit including maintaining proper internal control documentation, monitoring of control design and effectiveness, preparation, maintenance and review of self-assessment documentation.
7. Ensure US GAAP and Policy compliance, changes to GAAP, new Policies, corporate changes, etc.
8. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures in an effort to protect company assets and minimize risk.
9. Review of technical accounting issues and working with Houston operations to prepare proper documentation and communications with corporate and internal and external auditors including formal document control for reviews and investigations.
10. Creates and maintains a productive work environment with appropriate communication and involvement of all team members to ensure effective operations in accordance with SPX Leadership Standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor’s Degree, CPA and MBA desirable
2. Minimum of 5-7 years progressive experience including demonstrated leadership experience
3. Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and solve complex operational, accounting, and financial issues.
4. Take charge individual that is accustomed to working in a fast paced, matrix environment satisfying multiple customers that can also partner with the business unit leaders to improve results.
5. Effective communicator, both verbally and written. Active listener. Strong Presentation skills
