In-House Litigation Attorney


Our client, a privately held midstream energy company is seeking to add a Litigation Attorney to their growing team.

The Attorney will be responsible for litigation related to enforcement or defense of the company and case management. The Litigation Attorney will assist outside counsel in the defense of the company's position in a variety of matters including human resources, regulatory actions, contract violations etc. In addition the Litigation Attorney will be responsible for the following:
• Primary liaison with outside counsel with respect to portfolio of litigated matters.
• Assists in development of case strategy, reviewing discovery, editing briefs and other pleading and making recommendations regarding whether matters should be settled or tried.
• Monitors litigation and related costs.
• Informs senior management and business clients of nature and status of litigated matters including assessing risk to the company, providing counsel in the recommended course of action and reporting on trial results, settlements, etc.
• Seeks sources of recovery for the company including insurance proceeds or via contractual defense/indemnification rights.
• Researches legal principles and precedents, consults with outside counsel, drafts and executes legal documents and gathers relevant case related information using multiple sources and methods.
• Daily interface with multiple outside law firms and internal clients within the organization.
• Strong focus on litigation document review projects.
Qualifications for the position:


• Juris Doctorate from a reputed US law school required.
• Admission to State Bar with license to practice in the State of Texas required.
• Minimum 2-3 years post bar admission experience, preferably in a combination of law firm and corporate settings. (Midstream energy sector preferred.)
• Minimum of 2-3 years related practice experience in litigation.
• Experience with proceedings before State and Federal Courts.
