Cost Accountant

Our client company has aggressive growth plans and are seeking only the most talented and driven accounting professional to join their team.
• Study and collect information to determine differences between the bid and the actual costs of manufacturing including raw material, labor, and subcontract charges.
• Analyze data obtained and record results.
• Through the MOC process, observe changes in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to determine effects on costs.
• Evaluate actual manufacturing costs and prepared periodic reports comparing bid costs to actual production costs.
• Provide management with reports showing the margin and profitability of products and explaining monthly budget variances to senior management.
• Report and interpret costs discrepancies directly to upper management.
• Review ID estimate for current month to identify and report deviations.
• Compile a shipments update at the beginning of each month with explanations from budget and 5Q rolling estimates. This is also updated weekly for with explanations deviating from current estimate.
• Compile an estimate vs. actual file and then maintain it daily and submit once a month. Compares revenue for Drilling, subsea and surface to current estimate with explanations.
• Compile a Final Shipments update for month actuals and compare to last weekly update with explanations for Subsea and Surface.
• Comparing actual margins vs. current estimate for Subsea and Surface. (Ensuring revenue and costs are accurate.)
• Ensuring revenue and cos balance between reporting tools. SAP, BW and HFM.
• Compiling revenue and costs for Budgets, Rolling and Monthly estimates for Subsea and Surface (customer, ID and transfer). This includes confirming revenue dates with operations by project and distinguishing revenue recognition points.
• Revenue comparison files are completed to compare the current month actual and estimate detail, the current quarter actual and estimate detail, and a YTD comparison.
• MS - A project breakdown of Revenue, costs and Margin that includes actual and estimated values. SB - A monthly breakdown segregated into backlog and new bookings of New and Aftermarket revenue and cost.
• Report and identify revenue risks and opportunities. These are generally done at month end looking at the entire quarter.
• Attend production meetings to identify any cost concerns that require direct attention. Also provides an opportunity to go over the current month's production forecast to identify concerns.
• Handle requests for analysis and ad-hoc reporting to management.
