Summary:
This position will be responsible for managing all mid office and back office functions, including accounting, finance, risk, legal, human resources, tax and IT.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• This position is responsible for managing a diverse team of professionals comprising the mid and back office functions responsible for supporting businesses: Trading (gas, power, oil and foreign exchange), LNG and Carbon.
o This would include the following functions: Accounting, Finance (including managing credit and loan facilities), Counterparty Credit Risk, Market Risk, Legal (including both internal and external counsel), Human Resources (coupled with external service providers), Tax (US and international, including management of external tax advisors), Information Technology (including external technology providers), Contract Administration (including NAESBs, ISDAs, EEIs), and Confirmations.
• Key requirement is the provision of essential support services in a timely fashion, with high quality.
• Ensures compliance with US and UK-based reporting and control requirements, establishes and enforces policies and procedures, while at the same time initiates change and expands supports services as needed to support rapid US business growth.
• Requires extensive coordination of most activities with parent company.

Candidate Specification:
Qualifications:
• Bachelor or Masters Degree in business, accounting or finance, with CPA preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience in mid or back office functions in the energy industry, trading and marketing of gas preferred.

Skills:
• Understanding of operations and management of mid and back office functions in an energy environment.
• Very strong accounting skills required, particularly IFRS, consolidation and fast-close processes, ability to understand and interpret complex trading contracts, place that interpretation into the conceptual accounting framework and subsequently ensure the derived treatment is applied in practice.
• Understanding of financial instruments is essential
• Ability to understand back office processes in a trading company is essential, although previous experience of managing an entire mid and back office is not required.
• Proven, well-developed people management skills are necessary for this position.
• Strong service orientation to meet business units’ needs

• Ability to review and learn new skills required where experience of back-office processes is not demonstrated.

Experience:
• Experience of working in the trading or financial services sectors strongly preferred.
• Experience in the energy industry preferred
