Our client company has a long term growth plans for this technology company and is seeking only the most talented and driven professional to join their team.

Summary: Develop Ruby on Rails applications to support both web-services and html rendering. Use Rails Engine technology as appropriate to allow for sharing of common capabilities among web applications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Writing Rails 3.0 code using standard Rails 3.0 conventions and API’s.
• Follow Rails standards for separation of responsibilities in MVC architecture.
• Optimize performance and stability of application infrastructure.
• Write unit and functional tests to support new code features.
• Translate business requirements into code.

Competency:
• Able to write W3C Standards Compliant, Cross Browser Compatible (IE6+, Firefox, Chrome, Safari) Front-End Markup in XHTML/CSS/AJAX (Jquery)
• Website development using RAILS 2 or later.
• Able to write strong, scalable code for high transaction websites.
• Experience with source control systems such as Subversion.
• Experience with *nix shell and ability to manage Apache/Rails/Postgres stack

Preferred:
• Experience using JavaScript libraries such as jQuery
• Experience with Rails 3.0 Engine development
• Experience building and/or consuming public Web Service API’s.

Goals:
• Work with the Project Manager to ensure requirements are met
• Communicate with Project Managers and play an active role in project implementation, as well as identifying project implementation issues.
• Demonstrates best practices to peers.
• Debug problems across all platforms.
• Work with employees to scope and define tasks.
• Provide estimates of tasks for project planning.
• Write performant webservice code to support core services.
• Provide subject matter expertise in some aspect of overall architecture.
• Review code of other developers.
• Estimate scope of development tasks

Education/Experience:
• Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
• Three to eight years related experience
