Operations Process Analyst Job Description
The Operations Team is searching for potential candidates to fill 2 analyst positions within the department. These candidates should be prepared to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with opportunities for growth.
Candidates suitable for this role should have experience in data analysis, process mapping, procedure development, research, CIS systems, and general knowledge of customer operations.
Candidates should also be familiar with natural gas and electric business processes, and market transactions. These positions work closely with the IT department to align technical solutions with business needs.
Key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Document procedures, business rules, roles/responsibilities, and process flows
Collect and coordinate documentation and process model/workflow feedback from internal employees
Define the information shared across the operations group
Collect and proof all documentation of processes, templates, and presentations
Lead teams in assessments of business processes and systems and determine process improvement opportunities
Act as liaison conveying information needs of the business to IT
issues & improvement recommendations
Provides status updates on progress, issues, and risks
Skills:
Ability to understand the relationship between disconnected processes and flows, and communicate their collective relevance to the organization and to high-priority business issues
Strong analytical and performance management skills
Extensive experience planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives
Experience modeling and documenting cross functional business processes using a variety of tools and techniques
Previous experience in Operations - Billing, Collections, Customer Retention
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher
3-8 years experience in energy or other related field
2-3 years supervisory or lead experience preferred
Experience in implementing business processes in conjunction with a large scale system (i.e. CIS/CRM/ERP) is a plus
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio, and other Windows based applications

2. Manages financial functions for a subsea production control system project to include: tracking and reporting processes for consistent execution of projects and enforcing financial policies and procedures required to ensure the integrity of financial data and reporting.
3. Manages substantial cash flow and currency arrangements under tight internal and external rules.
4. Reports monthly and quarterly project financial status to Controller of Projects and project leader in a timely manner with emphasis on outstanding issues, potential changes, and adverse trends or risks, and financial metrics including EBITDA, margins, S-curves, economic value added, indirect cost, etc.
5. Supports the Management of Change process to identify and record all scope changes and the impact on cost, schedule and quality.
6. Participates in lessons learned reviews providing feedback to the organization and develops best practices and procedural guidelines to ensure that the lessons and accomplishments from each succesive subsea project are carried forward to future projects.
7. Responsible for the timely and accurate development of the project budget and work breakdown structure and subsequent estimates as well as analysis of actual results. This requires planning, organizing, and following-up on data required to meet both external and internal reporting requirements and due dates. This will encompass a variety of tasks and requires a widespread knowledge of the operation, as well as general product knowledge.
8. Tracks actual vs. proposed costs for project tasks or deliverables based on time reporting and other tracking systems.
Requirements for the Senior Project Accountant position include:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or similar business related field
5+ years of accounting experience
SAP R3
2+ years accounting experience on a multinational project
Knowledge of US GAAP

Preparation and explanation of unbilled reporting as needed for treasury
Job Requirements:
5 years plus accounting experience, volume balancing and margin experience required
Accounting degree preferred.
Finance or other business degree with a minimum of 12 hrs of accounting req.
Advanced Excel required & Access knowledge preferred

Minimum Qualifications

Compensation and Retention in a Turbulent Economy Under pressure

Throughout the past year, companies have confronted the most difficult economic environment in a generation. The recession may have officially ended, but there are signs the nation’s economic recovery has been uneven at best.
Among the many challenges executives have faced, a primary concern has been how to motivate and retain key talent when a dismal economy is wreaking havoc with traditional compensation plans. In fact, our recent survey revealed that pay and incentives are down across the board with deeper cuts in 2009 than 2008.
Deloitte conducted a survey in October 2009 of more than 200 U.S. executives at companies spanning a range of industries to explore this issue. The survey, which updates Deloitte’s September 2008 study, "Retention Strategies during Difficult Economic Conditions," revealed that, for the survey participants:
While the macro-economic outlook may have brightened, the recovery has been uneven – and pessimism about the past, rather than optimism about the future, appears to be driving corporate compensation strategies.
Every component of compensation remains under pressure – from base pay, bonuses and retirement plans to stock options and restricted stock grants.
Companies appear to have little appetite for modifying compensation plans in order to increase payouts to employees, even to top talent. Retention programs remain a relatively low priority for companies in many industries that believe employees “are lucky they have jobs” in a tough economy.
Some companies, however, are holding compensation packages steady or even increasing them, positioning themselves for a turn in the economy when the talent market heats up. Organizations that adjust their compensation and retention strategies now stand to benefit as the recovery takes hold.
Among the other notable findings:
At least 85 percent of surveyed companies will not provide standard merit increases on base salaries in 2009.
Six out of 10 executives (64 percent) surveyed reported their companies plan to award bonuses below target this year.
Nearly one in three executives surveyed (29 percent) stated their companies either decreased (9 percent) or suspended (20 percent) 401(k) matches in 2009.
Companies counting on a soft job market alone to retain employees may be blindsided unless they reposition themselves to keep top talent as the economy rebounds.

While the macro-economic outlook may have brightened, the recovery has been uneven – and pessimism about the past, rather than optimism about the future, appears to be driving corporate compensation strategies.
Every component of compensation remains under pressure – from base pay, bonuses and retirement plans to stock options and restricted stock grants.
Companies appear to have little appetite for modifying compensation plans in order to increase payouts to employees, even to top talent. Retention programs remain a relatively low priority for companies in many industries that believe employees “are lucky they have jobs” in a tough economy.
Some companies, however, are holding compensation packages steady or even increasing them, positioning themselves for a turn in the economy when the talent market heats up. Organizations that adjust their compensation and retention strategies now stand to benefit as the recovery takes hold.
Among the other notable findings:
At least 85 percent of surveyed companies will not provide standard merit increases on base salaries in 2009.
Six out of 10 executives (64 percent) surveyed reported their companies plan to award bonuses below target this year.
Nearly one in three executives surveyed (29 percent) stated their companies either decreased (9 percent) or suspended (20 percent) 401(k) matches in 2009.
Companies counting on a soft job market alone to retain employees may be blindsided unless they reposition themselves to keep top talent as the economy rebounds.

Finds 60 Percent of Staffing and Recruiting Firms Believe Business Has Improved or Will Improve by Year End
Boston — December 8, 2009 — Bullhorn, the global leader in On Demand, front office staffing and recruiting software, today released its latest report, “Recovery: Are We There Yet?”. Bullhorn asked staffing and recruiting professionals about their expectations for economic recovery and its effect on the industry. The results showed many respondents anticipate business to improve by the middle of next year. Of the respondents 60 percent said that business has already improved or would improve before the end of this year and a further 22 percent believe business will pick up by the end of the first quarter of 2010. Bullhorn found optimists across the entire recruiting spectrum and even though 54 percent of them reported decreases in both revenue and profit, they based their positive outlook on improving business conditions and almost half expect increases in revenue and profit in the second half of the year. Key findings from the report include:
Nearly one in three survey respondents said business has already begun improving and that number rose to 67 percent among firms that expect revenue and profit increases in 2009.
Of respondents who said business has already improved (the Bulls) 54 percent expect 2009 profits to equal or exceed 2008 numbers.
The Bulls in the survey were much more likely than their less optimistic colleagues (the Bears) to place contract workers and far less likely to place temporary workers and executives.
Across the board, referrals and cold calling were still considered to be the most effective traditional techniques for generating new leads.
The survey’s Bulls were overwhelmingly more likely to believe that social media tools were effective.

Update documentation of Contract Administration process
- Review inconsistency report
- Review documented controls for potential improvements
• Generate monthly reports for:
- LIFO calculator
- Accounting Earnings Analysis
- Jet Term Sales analysis
- Term Contract movements to assess ratability
- Production Ratability
- Standard Deviation
- Monthly posted prices
- Refinery and Marketing Split analysis
- Provide Production and Planned/Unplanned Charts and Analysis for Senior Management
- Provide analysis and reporting for inventory operations performance (i.e., terminal inventories analysis)
• Check daily price upload in CSL
• Assist in documentation of key internal process controls within Contract Admin and the Product Supply operations
• Provide support in management reporting (i.e., MAM, business unit meetings, staff meetings, etc)
• Learn monthly driver report to be backup and eventually take over process
• Provide analysis and reporting of Audit Observations identified for Product Supply
Accounting degree preferred. Min. 3 years energy experience
