GAS ACCOUNTANT

www.myrecruiting.biz is currently recruiting for a GAS ACCOUNTANT in Houston, Texas. The Gas Accountant will support the accounting function for the Gas Marketing business through validation of transaction details and amounts, recording amounts to accounting systems, and, sales, and services, such as transportation, storage, and other related fees.

Responsibilities for the Gas Accountant

Reconciliation of third party and inter-company pipeline and storage statements

Actualization of volumes



Record and communicate prior-period adjustments



Coordinating the accounts payable and receivable process for physical commodity purchases



Resolution of customer payment disputes



Calculate natural gas gross margins for various markets

Create invoices, and facilitate the process of cash receipts and disbursements

Prepare reports detailing and summarizing gross margin results along with the associated analysis necessary to validate the results

Compare projections to actual margins, analyze differences

Maintain controls and documentation evidencing performance of controls and more



Requirements for the Gas Accountant


Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance is required



5 or more years of revenue accounting experience is required



Experience working in a natural gas or other energy or commodity marketing and trading environment is preferred



Proficient in EXCEL



Strong accounting fundamentals is required for the position. This includes knowledge in journal entry preparation, balance sheet account reconciliations, account coding usage, inter-company reconciliations, and accounting period vs. production month concepts and accrual vs. cash accounting concepts



General understanding of natural gas marketing and trading business support functions, valuation, scheduling, actualization results, and recording prior period adjustments



Capable of balancing and reconciling pipelines, actualizing results, and recording prior period adjustments



Continual focus on process improvements while meeting routine responsibilities and objectives



Ability to communicate on all levels of the organization
